Hello again,
Mom and I are sitting by dad's bed while he sleeps. He is still in some pain, but he has gotten alot more sleep today than he has been. We are glad. He is still somewhat disoriented and not real responsive. They are feeding him rapidly through the tube but he says he "can't do it," that it makes him sick. The dietician thought maybe they could pull back and just go back to continuously feeding him, but that also made him sick. He is feeling really sick right now. The dietician mentioned putting in a feeding tube through surgery, but said it would only be temporary. He said this would be okay. The speech therapist just came in and asked him to try some crackers but he said no - I think because he feels so bad. She said that they wanted to try to get him to swallow "real food" before they make any decisions about a surgical feeding tube.
I can't remember all of what they said from this morning. They mentioned something about having too much ammonia in his blood and this backing up in his body possibly causing some of the nausea. His right arm appears to be getting stronger, but they have scheduled an MRI to look at ligaments. Dr. Anderson came in and talked to mom again today. He said that he was still concerned about the arm. He is not able to focus and says he has double vision, but they may be due to some of the medicine. Dr. Anderson said that he may recover slow, but that it was just a really extensive surgery and his body is trying to recover. I think the doctor is concerned about how lethargic he is. He doesn't seem to mind if we are here or not right now but it makes us feel better to be in here with him. The nurse is taking good care of him. I will try to update again later.
Please keep praying for him!
Love,
Cejae
